Cranfield University is seeking outstanding individuals to join its governing body known as the Council.  The Council is responsible for the University’s overall strategy, organisational structure and for its finances, property and investments.

The role of the Independent Member on Council is of vital importance to the University.  As a member of Council you will have the opportunity to be actively involved in transforming our strategy into reality.  To be successful you will be able to demonstrate that you support the values of UK higher education and Cranfield’s distinctive position in the sector, as well as having the ability to engage constructively as part of the non-executive team.  You will have a clear understanding of the corporate collective responsibility required and conduct yourself in accordance with the accepted standards of public life.

We are keen to hear from people who can offer particular expertise in one of more of the following areas: financial accounting; capital projects including for land and property development; digital and IT.

All Council members are expected to sit on at least one sub-committee.  There is a particular need to appoint people with an interest in sitting on the Finance Committee.

At Cranfield, we value Diversity and Inclusion, and aim to create and maintain a culture in which everyone can work and study together harmoniously with dignity and respect and realise their full potential. We particularly welcome applicants from different ethnic backgrounds as they are underrepresented within Council at Cranfield University.
