Consultation on an approach to world-leading specialist provider funding
The Office for Students (OfS) has launched a consultation on funding for world-leading specialist providers of higher education. These providers receive additional funding, recognising the high cost of their education and related activities and the contribution they make to the higher education sector and wider society. The consultation proposes criteria to decide which providers will be eligible and how funding will be allocated. The consultation closes on 1 December 2021.

Left behind white pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds
The Department for Education has published the government’s response to the Education Select Committee’s report, Left behind white pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. Consultation on OfS strategy for 2022-25
The Office for Students (OfS) has launched a consultation to gather feedback on its new draft three-year strategy – asking providers, students and others involved in higher education for their views on eleven goals. OfS says that its priorities for 2022-25 are ensuring high quality and standards of higher education in England, and securing equality of opportunity in access and participation. It also plans work on freedom of speech and says it will consult on changes to its conditions of registration related to management and governance. The deadline for responses is 6 January 2022.
OfS Regulatory advice 16: Reportable events (October 2021)
This document provides guidance for registered providers about the events or matters they are required to report to the Office for Students (OfS) to inform the OfS’s risk-based approach to monitoring. These are called ‘reportable events’. With effect from 1 January 2022, this document replaces the previous version of our guidance ‘Regulatory advice 16: Reportable events’ that was published in October 2019 (OfS 2019.40).
