Education Scotland and the Scottish Qualifications Authority: consultation

The Scottish Government has announced a consultation on the replacement of the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and the reform of Education Scotland. The consultation follows two recent reports from the OECD on the Scottish education system, which recommended reforms to curricula, learning practices, and assessment.  The deadline to respond to the consultation is 26 November 2021.

Refugees Welcome 2021 — Universities Scotland

Universities Scotland has published guidance for admissions staff at Scottish universities for how to develop their processes to admit and integrate refugees into higher education. The guidance covers the UK and international legislation regarding the rights of refugees, entitlement to SAAS fee status, and various specific statuses that some refugee applicants may hold.

College Leaver Destinations 2019-20

The Scottish Funding Council has published statistics detailing the destinations of Scottish college leavers for the academic year 2019-20. The proportion of college leavers who achieved SCQF 7+ progressing to university study rose to 36.7 per cent from 33.3 per cent in 2018-19. Meanwhile, the total number of college leavers entering unemployment rose to 15.6 per cent from 12.2 per cent.
