CUC launches call for governance consultants to support refreshed Higher Education Code of Governance

Working alongside CUC colleagues, appointed consultants will help develop and refresh guidance, advice and practice resources for chairs, governors and governance professionals across the sector.  The role will involve engaging with senior stakeholders, sharing effective practice and translating the ambitions of the Code into practical support for institutions.

CUC is keen to hear from governance leaders and professionals with significant experience in higher education, as well as those with expertise from sectors including healthcare, financial services, housing, charities and the wider public sector.  Particular interest is welcomed from individuals with experience in areas such as board effectiveness, academic governance, strategy, sustainability, risk and assurance, and inter-institutional collaboration.

The consultancy opportunities will be offered on a self-employed basis as part of CUC’s 2026/27 programme of activity.  CUC expects to appoint between three and five consultants, each contributing up to 20 days of work during the year.  Expressions of interest, including a tailored CV and short video, should be submitted to office@universitychairs.ac.uk by Sunday 23 August.
